GHJ supports women through diversity initiatives, leadership opportunities and trainings
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 9, 2020) – The Los Angeles-based accounting firm Green Hasson Janks (GHJ) supports female employees every day and reaffirms its commitment to progress by marking special recognition in honor of International Women’s Day 2020.
GHJ believes in creating a gender-equal world. To do so, everyone must be #EachforEqual and challenge stereotypes. This year, the firm is partnering with its international accounting network HLB to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality.
While GHJ is celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day this March, the firm does its part to be #EachforEqual and make a positive difference for women year-round. To do this, GHJ provides internal training designed to advance women to leadership positions. The firm’s Women’s Empowerment Speaker Series invites women who have achieved top roles in their field to discuss the path to leadership and offer insights into the journey’s challenges and opportunities. The most recent event focused on Creating Leaders: Men and Women Sponsor the Next Gen Journey and was moderated by GHJ’s Partner Polina Chapiro with panelists Yvonne Burke (Chief People Officer at GHJ) and top business leaders Dr. Lois Shelton (Professor and Department of Management Academic Lead and Entrepreneur Program at the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University Northridge) and Jack Ringquist (University of Southern California’s Associate Director and Global Sector Lead).
GHJ’s commitment to supporting women is deeply rooted in the Firm’s culture. With more than half the employees comprised of females and a third of its senior leaders being women, GHJ prides itself on cultivating a diverse employee base and providing a welcoming and supportive environment for people of all backgrounds and experiences. The firm also pushes out numerous blogs and articles promoting diversity in the workplace. By creating diversity of thought GHJ is able to bring the best results for its clients. This was recently demonstrated when three of the top 27 Los Angeles Business Journal’s Most Influential Women in Accounting were GHJ leaders: Partners Polina Chapiro and Donella Wilson and Principal Anita Wu.
“GHJ’s strongly believes in diversity and inclusion,” explained GHJ Managing Partner Tom Barry. “We are #EachforEqual when it comes to growing and supporting the women at our firm. Our #BeMore culture encourages and empowers our employees to have successful careers alongside commitments outside the workplace. We know that our commitment to advancing women into leadership roles created better outcomes for our firm and our clients.”
GHJ is also a supporter of community efforts to grow women in business such as CalCPA’s Annual Women’s Leadership Forum and Center for Nonprofit Management Women’s Leadership Summit and repeat sponsor of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Women’s Council.
GHJ believes every day is a chance for women (and men) to #BeMore. Not do more. Not work more. Instead, the firm encourages its employees to be the best they can be and enjoy life to the fullest.
