GHJ Promotes Tax Director Akash Sehgal and Audit Principal Satpal Nagpal to Partner- GHJ

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 28, 2016… GHJ is pleased to announce the promotion of Satpal Nagpal and Akash Sehgal to partner in January 2017.

Satpal Nagpal

Nagpal, a CPA, has almost 15 years of public accounting experience providing audit, accounting and general business consulting services. He is an essential component of the Firm’s Waste Management Group and the Nonprofit Practice. Nagpal’s vast industry experience extends to recycling, distribution, real estate and home building, e-commerce and entertainment.

As an active member of his community, he is passionate about the education sector and serves on the board of Synergy Academies. Nagpal also serves as a treasurer on the Board of Directors of International Education Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

Nagpal graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai, India. He has two graduate degrees; a Master of Commerce from the University of Mumbai, India and a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Nagpal is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Akash Sehgal

As leader of GHJ State and Local Tax Practice, Sehgal’s focus is on multistate income and franchise tax, sales and use tax and credits and incentives. He has almost 20 years of state and local tax experience with two Big Four firms in Los Angeles and Seattle.

Sehgal assists his clients on complex state and local tax issues related to transactional planning, mergers and acquisitions, general day-to-day consulting and compliance. He has significant experience dealing with state tax issues in California, Oregon, Idaho and Washington and local city taxes including the Los Angeles City Business Tax. He is a frequent speaker for a variety of tax associations including Tax Executive Institute (“TEI”) and the Council on State Taxation (“COST”).

Sehgal has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. He offers his expertise in state and local tax planning and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, manufacturing, retail, financial services and technology.
